Nicholas T. “Nick” Gaspar
May 19, 2023

Nicholas “Nick” Gaspar, 16-year-old resident of Franklin, MA, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on May 19, 2023. Born in Boston on October 18, 2006, Nick was the beloved son of Timothy and Jennifer (Branco-Caton) Gaspar, best friend and twin brother of Jordan, adoring older brother of Lillian and grandson of Stephen and Kathleen Gaspar of Dartmouth, MA and Joanne Branco and Melvin Caton of Cambridge.

Nick was a straight-A student, an exceptional basketball and lacrosse player, and a passionate fan of anything related to the University of North Carolina. His love of UNC basketball and lacrosse remained unshakable, despite his Dad and brother being avid Duke fans. During summers, Nick enjoyed spending time with his feet in the sand on the beaches of Cape Cod, on the waters of Lake Winnipesaukee where he loved to waterski, wakeboard and go on long boat rides, or at home with his family playing basketball in the driveway with his dad and brother or fetch in the yard with his dog, Pierce.

Nick’s exceptional ability to make people laugh was one of his greatest gifts, and he brought this joy and humor to the lives of everyone he encountered. Nick’s kindness, laughter and positivity persisted throughout his treatment. He remained a true example of dignity and grace, ultimately developing a strong faith in God. Nick’s unwavering determination, hope, courage, strength and never give-up attitude during his two year battle with cancer was an inspiration to those around him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation pcrf-kids.org

Calling hours are Wednesday May 24th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 3-7PM.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Thursday May 25th, in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Support Nick Gaspar

On Friday May 14, Nick Gaspar, 14 years old, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Yesterday (5/18) he underwent a successful surgery to biopsy the tumor. The family could be waiting 2-4 weeks for a full report on Nick’s diagnosis and treatment plan.

Nicholas has been a fighter since birth, when he was born premature along with his twin brother, Jordan. We know that he will face this fight with the same fighter mentality and beat this!

To know Nick is to love him. To some he may appear quiet, but he’s quick with his wit and one liners! He is one of the smartest kids I know- a master with a Rubik’s Cube! He is kind, caring and one of the most polite teenagers around!

He is an absolute FORCE on the basketball court and lacrosse field. He is so dedicated and hardworking, you can always find him practicing his shot and trying to improve his game. He is a loyal son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend and teammate. He really is just one of those kids that you want to know! The type of kid you want your kids to be friends with. The type that you just can’t help but LOVE. We all want Nick back to doing the things he loves the most as soon as he can.
